After seeing the recent Emin and Munch show, I have been thinking more about titles. Emin named each one of her canvas and created a powerful narrative, I thought this was moving and loaded. I wonder if this makes the work more obvious or gmicky? The Emin work was clearly about a relationship or breakup, It make the work more relatable.. but is this what I want, I need to think more on this matter.

I like the idea of giving the paintings dates or months as the title, this is more inclusive to the idea that the paintings aren't just about one thing (most of the time) but about a place in time, in my opinion, the mind is far too complicated to be only influenced by one emotion or feeling. And I know the music I am listening to, the weather, how comfortable I am with my environment all have a part to play in how my paintings evolve. So naming a painting I have worked on for various days about one event that is happening in my life seems unnatural, maybe this will change

After taking many days to layer and edit this piece I think it has become one of the strongest paintings I have done. I feel that there is a good balance of colours and tones and the writing allows for the viewer to make their own assumption as to what the work was about.
