Today I finished one of the paintings I have been working on for a while now, I have been thinking about the idea Rebecca Harper and I discussed of these paintings becoming more layered and holding thoughts and feelings from a period of time rather than just one day. I think this idea has more potential to develop. However, I think this painting has a nice balance and holds itself quite well, I like the text on the lower half of the painting, almost like a footnote, it holds the piece together and gives the impression this painting isn't as dream like as the palette first describes. I have been thinking about this more recently, as I start to use to this fleshy coloured palette more often I believe the written word can indicate to the viewer that these paintings hold more rooted and sincere themes.
